The Molecular Sciences Software Institute (MolSSI), located at Virginia Tech, seeks candidates for its Software Scientists, both Lead and Staff positions.

Lead Software Scientist: The successful candidate will work with the MolSSI Director and Board of Directors to lead and coordinate day-to-day activities of the MolSSI, will oversee the work of the software staff and software fellows, and will be actively involved in software development and training. Candidates should have demonstrable skills in computational methods and theories for molecular sciences, software development and management. Qualified applicants must have a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, materials science or related areas with demonstrated related experience. The application should also have a strong research record; strong communication skills to effectively interact with all stakeholders in MolSSI and with staff; and the ability to timely plan, initiate and execute activities. In addition, the successful candidate will mentor the software staff and fellows and help prepare reports as necessary for the funding agency.

Staff Software
Scientists:  The successful candidates will be actively involved in an interdisciplinary team who will help develop software frameworks, interact with community code developers including Software Fellows, develop and provide software development training, collaborate with partners in cyberinfrastructure, form mutually productive coalitions with industry, government labs and international efforts. Candidates should have demonstrable skills in computational methods and theories for molecular sciences, applied mathematics, or computer science and in active community software development. Qualified applicants must have a PhD in chemistry, physics, biology, materials science, applied mathematics, computer science or related areas. The applicant should also have a strong research record; strong communication skills to effectively interact with all stakeholders in MolSSI and with staff; and the ability to timely execute activities.
