This is the perfect opportunity to promote your products and services to research software engineering leaders and decision makers (present and future) at the only conference purpose built for RSEs.

We have run two popular and successful RSE conferences in 2016 and 2017. A blog post about the first conference gives a good flavour of the event:

With all the excitement about RSEs over the last couple of years, we knew it was the right time to run a conference to bring them together. We’ve had workshops and AGMs, but this was going to be bigger, better and way more intense. The thing that impressed me most was the buzz. We attracted a lot of new people, but they were interacting like old friends. We worked hard to have an inclusive event, but I think this is also representative of people feeling a part of the community. (software.ac.uk)

and the feedback was fantastic:

‘I felt a great disturbance in my twitter, as if loads of #RSE suddenly we massively enthused. I fear something awesome has happened.#RSE16‘ (Adrian Jackson)

‘This might have been my 30th conference but it was the first where I felt thematically 100% at home and understood’.

‘Had an amazing time meeting & talking to tons of awesome folks building software in a research context this week at #RSE16. Thanks everyone! ‘(Ethan White)

#RSE16 Very interesting! – think I’ve finally got my head around @docker today. Would recommend #RSE2017. ‘ (Declan Valters)

‘Leaving #RSE16 but really proud of what UK @ResearchSoftEng community achieved in the 4 years since @SoftwareSaved #CollabW12 – such a buzz!’ (Neil Chue Hong)

This has only been possible with the generous funding of those who support our mission of creating a community, promoting best practice and raising awareness of Research Software Engineers in the UK and internationally.

The conference this year will be bigger and hopefully even better. We are expanding to a venue that can comfortably accommodate 300 delegates with the potential capacity of 420 delegates. In previous years we have sold out easily and in advance of the ticket sales deadline so we’re fully expecting to sell out 300 delegate tickets.

This year we have the Great Hall at the University of Birmingham, a wonderful large, airy space that will be dedicated to the Exhibitors. In line with the expansion in delegate numbers we’re planning more exhibitors than any year so far and will make the exhibitor hall a really beneficial experience for both the delegates and the exhibitors/sponsors.

Why sponsor the RSE Conference?

We have the experience and the proven success of providing a dedicated conference where RSEs find their community, build their network, swap skills and best practice.  Without our sponsors’ support, we will not be able to deliver the event our community needs. By supporting us, our sponsors are helping to further the international awareness of the RSE career, helping to provide vital skills, forming an essential network and preparing RSEs for future research skills in academia or industry.  Sponsoring the conference helps to keep the registration costs low allowing more RSEs to attend and helps us to provide travel bursaries, allowing a wider participation.

RSEs and RSE leaders often shape decisions about tools, contracts and approaches to research software and computing – either directly or through their role advising,  training and collaborating with researchers. By associating yourself with the flagship RSE event in the ways described above you will have the chance to raise awareness of how your products or services are relevant to their work and gain connections and trust within our community.

Our Delegates

At our past two annual conferences, our delegates have included Research Software Engineer Leaders and teams from around the world, Research Council representatives, early career research software engineers, early career researchers and more.

Marketing

Your name, your product, your service can all be part of our conference marketing. Get your logo on our website, our poster, our conference slides, and on all our promotional materials, including social media and email channels.  Higher sponsorship tiers have other opportunities such as running an interactive training workshop.

Exhibition in the Great Hall

We will provide exhibition space to allow you to showcase your offerings and network with delegates during the two days. You can demo products or services, give away swag, and start some great conversations. We’re open and flexible to ideas for an interactive exhibitor table and will help to achieve our exhibitors’ plans as much as possible.

Meeting your needs

Not sure any of our packages work for you? We will consider tailoring a sponsorship package that exactly fits your needs. Contact Claire Wyatt, Sponsorship Chair, based at the University of Southampton, to discuss your options.
