Geoscience-sig
The Geoscience RSE Special Interest Group is part of the Research Software Engineering Society. We aim to provide opportunities for bringing together RSEs working in various fields of geoscience, for example, weather, climate, oceanography, earth science, planetary physics or space weather research. To facilitate knowledge exchange and networking, we will organise events, signpost resources, provide platforms for asynchronous exchange, reach out to RSEs in the field who might not be part of or aware of the Geoscience RSE community yet, and advocate for RSEs within the Geosciences community.

Upcoming Events
The Geoscience SIG has its inaugural meeting at RSECon25. We’re organising a BoF session on Tuesday with keynote speakers (from NCAS and NERC), lightning talks, and breakout groups for discussion. Everyone is welcome, whether you consider yourself a geoscientist or you just want to find out more.
We’re looking for speakers for the lightning talks, as we are very keen to give the community a chance to present their work. You can apply to give a talk using this Google form. Deadline for submissions is 31st July.

Steering Committee
The Geoscience SIG is led by a steering committee. The current members are:
- Chair: Helen Burns
- Deputy: Isabel Fenton
The positions of Communications officer and Events officer are currently vacant.
How to get involved?
As well as an elected steering committee, we have a larger, wider committee to help organise events and keep the SIG going, and we welcome anyone from the community to get involved.
